On October 5 2024, the first stage of Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line), which uses the platform shield door system, opened for operation. As the second metro line in the Mumbai region, Metro Line 3 covers a total distance of 33.5 km, of which the first phase will be over 12 km, connecting major areas of the city and airport terminals. In the first phase, 10 stations are equipped with square platform screen door system, of which 1 station has half high gate and 9 stations have full high gate.

The opening and operation of the first stage of Mumbai Metro Line 3 has effectively relieved the traffic pressure on urban roads and improved the travel conditions of citizens, which has attracted wide attention from local citizens on the day of opening. The line is connected to the Mumbai Metro Line 1 at MaroNaka, strengthening the connectivity between the various districts within the city of Mumbai.
